A four-arm mini roundabout could be installed on a road in Kings Langley.
Kings Langley Parish Council commissioned a feasibility study to identify options to improve road safety at the junction of the A4251, Vicarage Road and The Nap, over safety concerns for both drivers and pedestrians.
In August, a car crashed into the front of a bistro on the High Street after swerving to avoid a collision with another car.
Though traffic lights were considered, the turning manoeuvre for larger vehicles would put the locations of the stop lines a significant distance from junctions and potential pedestrian crossings.
The favoured optioned is now a mini roundabout, which will require the A4251 to be narrowed and The Nap give-way line to be brought forward.
Two ‘non-prescribed’ zebra crossings could also be introduced on the Vicarage Lane and The Nap.
The existing pelican crossing to the south of the junction would be retained.
Further discussions on the details of the plans will continue over the coming months.
