The new headmaster at Parmiter’s School said he appreciates how warmly he has been welcomed into the Parmiter’s Family.
Michael Jones joined the school in the summer and spoke to MyAbbotsNews just before Christmas.
He joined the school after nine years as head at Holmer Green Senior School in Bucks and said there were several factors that convinced him to make the move.
Mr Jones said: “I taught at Francis Combe in the late 1990s where I was the head of drama so I already knew of Parmiter’s reputation. I am keen to uphold the tradition of the school and its high standards and expectations. I also want to seize our traditions in sports, music and The Arts and also help some of the more modern disciplines like computing and electronics thrive and develop further.
“We have exceptional students, a large thriving sixth form and it’s an exciting school to be a part of.”
Mr Jones said he wants to share some of the expertise of Parmiter’s staff with other schools in the area and stressed the school’s interaction with its community is an important part of its identity.
Finally he said he is extremely excited about the future – because of the school’s students.
He said: “We share with them the excitement of anticipating what they will go on to become and accomplish. It is one thing for a school to offer opportunities but it is another and equally wonderful thing for the students to seize them.”
