Councillor Chris Mote, a long-serving councillor for Pinner, sadly passed away on Thursday, July 29 after a short illness.
A spokesperson for Harrow Council said: “It is with the deepest regret that we must inform you that Former Deputy Mayor and Leader of Council, Cllr Chris Mote, sadly passed away late last night after a short illness.
“Cllr Mote served the Council for 27 years with dedication, humility and kindness, and will be sorely missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. Our thoughts and best wishes are with his widow, Cllr Janet Mote, and their family.”
Paul Osborn, Harrow Council Conservatives Group leader said: “I can’t imagine Harrow Council without Chris. He was a true gentleman and has been an amazing source of wisdom and advice to me and many others from all political parties. I know he will be sorely missed by all.”
The Pinner South Safer Neighbourhood Police Team added: “Councillor Mote was an absolute gentleman and a great servant to the residents of the Pinner South Ward and Harrow Borough.”
Stephen Greek, Conservative Councillor for Harrow Weald said: “Deeply saddened at the loss of our longstanding Harrow Cllr Chris Mote. Chris was a true gent and widely loved and respected across the council and the local community. He is someone I have always looked up to & will be deeply missed.”
Details of the funeral will be provided by Harrow Council in due course.
