‘SAD AND SHOCKED’: Scammers hijack Croxley tearoom’s Valentine’s competition

Staff at a tearoom in Croxley were left “sad and shocked” after its online competition was hijacked by fraudsters.

In January, The Kitchen Croxley launched a competition on social media giving away a Valentine’s Afternoon Tea prize.

Owner Linda Anderson told Croxley News: “Sadly, someone used our logo on their account and replied to all the entries saying that they were the winner. They included a link to a page where the person was asked to enter bank details.”

Whilst nominal fees were extracted from competition entrants’ bank accounts, Linda has encouraged everyone affected to contact their bank.

Linda added: “Many customers alerted us to the scam, and we quickly deleted the post and alerted everyone to what was happening.

“I am so sorry for the disappointment.”
