Published on: 26th May 2019   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Next rugby season sees the formation of a new rugby team.

Tabard RFC and Watford RFC’s under 11 girls spread their wings and form the ‘The Lionesses of Tabard and Watford Under 13’s side.

Yes it’s a mouthful, but this Barbarians team enable the girls to carry on with their passion and play the game they love.

Last week saw the girls fundraising at MOD pizza Borehamwood, their recently acquired sponsor. “We are so delighted with the turn out, the funds go a long way to purchasing a new kit for September, and its been lovely to meet friends and family of all of the girls” said one of their coaches.

Not only did everyone enjoy the pizza delights but they also had a guest appearance.  Zoe Harrison, Saracens and England’s Fly Half took a break from her heavy training schedule to come along and meet the team.  Zoe, signed autographs and posed for photos and spent time chatting to the team.

Gracie Gilbert from Tabard RFC said “It was so nice to see Zoe close up. She is so cool and gave me some great tips for my rugby future’.

The future is bright for women’s rugby, we are seeing growth in the sport from grassroots level.  This Barbarians is testament to passion and determination.  We wish the Lionesses the best of luck for upcoming season.
