The RSPCA is appealing for information after a puppy was found dead in a plastic bag in St Albans.
A German Shepherd was found “dumped” in a field at the junction of Hammonds Lane and Coleman Green Lane on Saturday, January 28.
The discovery was made by a local resident, who found the puppy in a Lidl plastic bag. The dog had not been microchipped.
The RSPCA is asking for information so they can find out more about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
RSPCA animal rescue officer Nicole Pendrell-Smith said: “This is very upsetting and we are keen to find out how the puppy came to be dumped like this and why he was in the condition he was in.
“The body was examined by a vet, who determined that the puppy was around 12 to 14 weeks old. He had no external injuries but was emaciated and had signs of a gastric illness.
