Rickmansworth residents have banded together to help out those affected by the recent and devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
At the time of writing, the disaster has claimed more than 41,000 lives and devasted both countries, with a desperate rescue effort and humanitarian crisis still ongoing.
Spurred on by this devastating news and within two days of the tragedy, people living on Valley Road, the Drive, the Clump and the surrounding areas banded together to do something to help those affected.
After a message was put on a local neighbourhood WhatsApp group, residents flocked to a drop off point on Valley Road, where items such as non-perishable foods, nappies, toothbrushes, baby wipes, tents, warm clothing and more were gathered into a lorry.
These items have now been taken to a Turkish community centre in London, who are facilitating the transport of these items to Turkey and Syria, where they will reach the people who need them.
