ROCK BOTTOM: Watford still waiting for win

Published on: 28th September 2019   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Watford FC

Hornets manager Quique Sanchez Flores said his players were only thinking about winning and being competitive to do that as Watford looked to drag themselves off the bottom of the table this afternoon.

But, a bright start from the visitors with Danny Welbeck looking lively, it was the home team who went in front through Matt Doherty just before 20 minutes. Wolves 1 Watford 0.

After Roberto Pereyra replaced Gerard Deulofeu the break, the Argentine fashioned Watford’s best chance when he whipped in a dangerous ball which Holebas got on the end of, only to be thwarted by a brave stop from Rui Patricio.

Watford were unlucky to concede the second goal when Daryl Janmaat turned the ball into his own net just after the hour. Wolves 2 Watford 0

After Danny Welbeck and Abdoulaye Doucoure were unable to drag Watford back into the game, the problems are mounting for Quique Sanchez Flores and his team who are marooned at the bottom of the table.

The Hornets take on Sheffield United next Saturday at Vicarage Road.
