The Amersham and Chalfont Neighbourhood Team have been checking local parks and buildings as part of a knife crime awareness campaign.
As part of Operation Spectre, a police initiative aiming to tackle knife crime, Thames Valley Police conducted a sweep on Wednesday, November 13.
The operation specifically focuses on tackling and disrupting the importation and supply of knives. Particularly, it aims to tackle the growing accessibility of dangerous knives.
Nationally, the operation saw 13,272 knives removed from the streets last year.
Commander Stephen Clayman, National Police Chiefs’ Council Knife Crime Lead, said: “Alongside robust enforcement action, police forces also look at the underlying causes and undertake many engagement visits to schools and community organisations, which are so vital in educating around the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.”
