A Rickmansworth resident has shared her concerns over the ongoing closure of the High Street to vehicle traffic.
The section of road between Church Street and Station Road was initially closed in August 2020 as part of social distancing measures introduced during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
However, a decision was made to continue the closure.
One elderly resident, Pamela, recently contacted RICKYnews to share her worries.
She said: “It’s a really bad decision for disabled people, the old and blind. I used to use the bus to get down to the High Street and, due to the closure, it doesn’t go down there anymore. All of the shops are down there.”
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council, acting on behalf of Three Rivers District Council, said: “Around two-thirds of people who responded to our consultation last summer supported the continuing closure of the High Street to help boost the local economy and make the area a more attractive and healthier environment, but we are conscious that there are a lot of issues to balance.”
