As part of Road Safety Week 2020, road safety charity, Brake, partnered with Rickmansworth Specsavers to raise awareness of the importance of looking after our sight, particularly when driving, cycling and being on the roads, with safety being paramount.
Specsavers stores across London and Hertfordshire have been donating high viz jackets to support local community and school initiatives.
Chorleywood Primary School has been a benefactor of this Road Safety Week campaign, with their pupils receiving high viz jackets for use on school trips, walking and commuting to school and any school related outings.
Jane O’Mahony, travel plan leader at Chorleywood Primary School said: “We are very grateful for the donation of hi viz jackets from Specsavers Rickmansworth. They will certainly come in incredibly handy in keeping our children safe during these dark months.”
Specsavers Rickmansworth, optometrist director Ali Hashim said: ‘We are delighted to be able to support Chorleywood Primary School and to assist with increasing the visibility of the pupils whilst on school related trips, particularly over the winter period, when the light is much poorer, and visibility is therefore reduced.’”
This year’s campaign, ’No need to speed’ is being promoted during Road Safety Week to encourage everyone, and in particular drivers, to check their eyesight is in tip top condition.
The poorer lighting and dazzle from lights in the dark evenings can easily impact on a driver’s ability to have good vision.
