A woman has shared a distressing encounter she experienced while driving through the village with Radlett News.
At around 2.30pm on Tuesday, April 22, Aleksandra Gniado was driving through Radlett when a Black Ford Puma approached from the opposite direction.
She wrote: “I stopped, thinking the driver would move to her side of the road to let me pass – she had space to do so on the verge. Unfortunately, she didn’t.”
The other driver started yelling, waving her arms, and shouting insults at Aleksandra, who reversed into a nearby lay-by to let her pass. At this point, the other woman spat in her face.
Aleksandra wrote: “I was shocked and deeply concerned. I turned around and followed her because, in my opinion, her behaviour was far from normal. She may have been under the influence of something or in a state of mind that made her unfit to be behind the wheel.
“She kept driving aggressively – stopping suddenly, reversing, slamming the brakes in front of me, making rude gestures, getting out of her car and screaming. I called the police while following her, as I feared she might harm someone more vulnerable than me.”
Aleksandra wished to share her story to warn others, and asked Radlett News to highlight tips for dealing with road rage.
According to RAC, victims of aggressive or intimidating behaviour on roads should stay calm, not retaliate (through words or gestures), ignore the aggressor, and try to diffuse the situation, if possible.
