A young footballer has made his childhood football club proud after signing his first professional contract with one of the UK’s most successful teams.
Theo Julienne started his football career at Hatch End-based Parkfield Youth FC, where his love for the sport developed and grew.
He joined Arsenal in June 2021 and quickly proved his skills. He made his mark on Jack Wilshere’s under-18s team last season and represented England in the U16s team.
Last month, the player was delighted to sign his first professional contract with the club.
Speaking to Arsenal.com, he said: “Obviously it’s a great feeling to sign for this club. I’ve been here a while now; I joined when I was 13, so I’m happy that I’ve signed.
“There are a lot of things I need to work on – shooting, maybe my understanding of the game at times – but you can always work on things to get better.”
Theo has made 14 appearances for the academy sides in all competitions this season, already surpassing his 12 games for the under-18s last term.
He has featured predominantly in the U18 Premier League, but has also played in the FA Youth Cup, the UEFA Youth League with the under-19s, and Premier League 2 for the under-21s.
His dream is to start for the first season, saying: “Seeing academy graduates like Jack Porter, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Josh Nichols, Ethan Nwaneri and Ayden Heaven make first team appearances is so inspiring.
“It shows that if you work hard and stay consistent, the opportunities will come.”
