RISING COSTS: House prices near area’s private schools soar in value

Amidst the ever-increasing boom in house prices across the country, new research has shown that living near two of Northwood’s best private schools can send costs rocketing even higher.

According to data collected by London-based real estate agents Benham & Reeves, the average house price for those living in the HA6 postcode, home to both Northwood College for Girls and St Helen’s School, is £709, 881.

This is around 60 per cent higher than the average for the rest of the borough, which is the already high £444, 303.

However, this borough average is actually lower than that of the rest of London, which overall sits at £519, 932.

Director of Benham and Reeves, Marc von Grundherr, commented:

“Those sending their children to one of London’s top private schools certainly don’t have the usual housing related worries where that all important catchment areas is concerned. But despite this, it appears as those they are more than happy to pay above and beyond to reside within the same postcode.

It’s no wonder homes cost more the closer you get to school as it provides peace of mind when making this transition that little bit sooner, compared to if they went to school on the other side of the city.”
