Residents and councillors are celebrating after a long-derelict Croxley house is set to be brought back into use following enforcement work by Three Rivers District Council (TRDC).
The house at 303 New Road had been derelict for years. Following complaints, TRDC tidied the overgrown gardens in 2020.
However, the site and house has deteriorated again over the past three years. The roof and the structure of the house have become unstable, and the house’s exterior became overgrown with ivy to the point you could barely make out the front door.
Following TRDC making threats of legal action over the state of the house, the owners finally sold the property to a local builder in February.
The builders immediately started work in making the house safe and they hope to put it on the market later this year.
Croxley councillor Paul Rainbow said: “This is great news for residents. It has removed an eyesore and will get a much-needed family home back in use. I am glad that persistence has paid off.”
