A garden that is set to be displayed at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show will afterwards be rehomed at Amersham Hospital.
The garden was designed by Jen Donnelly and Catherine Gibbon, built by The Landscape Group and sponsored by The Tuberous Sclerosis Association.
It is designed specifically as a restorative retreat for parents and caregivers of patients in hospital, and offers solace in nature.
Aimed at promoting security and peace, the garden features cocoon-like feature chair cradles, evergreens and textural leaves, burgundy foliage and flowers, an angled pathway, and a pergola.
The garden is inspired by the designers’ personal experiences. Jen spent time in hospital with her son Alex, who has tuberous sclerosis complex. Both Catherine and Jen volunteer at Amersham Hospital, where they are part of a team helping to rejuvenate the gardens.
After the show, elements from the garden are being relocated to Amersham Hospital.
You can see the garden in all its glory at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show from May 20 to 24.
