Resident wants council to make treacherous turn safer following accident

A resident from Radlett has said he is ‘petrified’ of turning out of his road following a nasty crash recently and has urged the council to make it safer for drivers. Arnold Donn, who lives in Goodyers Avenue, collided with another vehicle last month when exiting Goodyers Avenue onto Watling Street, suffering £300 worth of damage to his car. Mr Donn told My Radlett & Shenley News that the cause of this is to do with parked cars close to the junction and he has since written to two notable Hertsmere dignitaries in a bid to resolve this issue. He said: “Since the collision, I have written to both MP Oliver Dowden and councillor Morris Bright, leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, expressing my concerns. “It is really dangerous. I had a crash one day and the very next I almost had a collision with another vehicle. It is time to change this. “Due to the treacherous nature of the turn, I am going down to Oakridge Avenue via Links Drive as the turn out of there is much safer than the one out of Goodyers Avenue. “I have become petrified to turn out of my own road for fear of another incident like this.” Mr Donn explained that cllr Bright did reply to his email, saying that he had forwarded Mr Donn’s concerns onto the chief environmental officer for Hertsmere who would report back with his findings. To make the junction safer, Mr Donn added: “The implementation of double yellow lines would stop cars parking so close to the junction and it would make it a lot safer. “I hope this is done as it is only a matter of time before a more serious incident occurs here.” What do you think of the turn from Goodyers Avenue onto Watling Street?
