Watford Community Housing has revealed more of how the reconstruction of the Meriden Estate is coming along.
Many residents have moved into their new homes throughout 2021, and many more will join them over the next two years.
Currently, the project has managed to complete 56 new housing units by the end of last year. This includes 23 apartments in Plover House and Cygnet House, which will be filled by tenants on Watford Borough Council (WBC)’s Housing Register.
2022 should bring the completion of homes by the Turnstones and on Kingfisher Way, which will be more family-orientated.
A Community Hub, market square, additional apartments at Drake House and assisted living for older people (named ‘Flexi-care apartments) are also all on the cards to be ready by the end of this year.
Urban tree planting has also been an aspect project discussed recently, with an idea currently being looked at being a mini orchard, as part of 10 others of its kind also being considered across Watford.
