RECIPE FOR SUCCESS: Chorleywood resident excited about fictional cook book

Published on: 19th August 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Chorleywood resident is excited about her cook book with a twist which she wrote, illustrated and published herself.

Jane Jackson, 77, has been a Heronsgate resident for over 25 years, and used her friends, former business partner and her own recipes for her book – The Pottlewick Village Recipe Book.

The book isn’t the classic recipe book due to its fictional twist, but all of the 36 tried and tested recipes are all linked to the storyline.

The story revolves around the main character, Mrs Clementine Leach, who cycles around the village and collects the recipes from locals.

Jane said: “It is very unique and fun. The drawings and the story makes people laugh and I suppose, my love for drawing and cooking brought it altogether.

“I first started to draw the characters, then I made up the village and it went from there really. Each recipe is from a different resident in the village and is focussed around a storyline.

Jane had a successful career in the food industry said her background and passion for food and drawing played a part in her creating the book.

Jane recently held a book launch at Chenies Manor House, Rickmansworth and said it was a brilliant day where she sold a lot copies.

She said: “The book launch was terrific. It went so well and everyone had a lot of fun. It was quite surreal actually – we sold a lot of copies and so many people turned up.

“Alongside a glass of bubbly each, everyone who turned up had the opportunity to taste some of the recipes in the book in canape form.”

Jane is holding a book signing on Saturday, September 21 at Chorleywood Bookshop and is giving a presentation to the Chorleywood WI on October 1.
