RAISING FUNDS: Hemel woman set to take on marathon for cause close to her heart

Published on: 24th August 2021   |   By: Dean Shaw   |   Category: Uncategorized

A woman from Hemel Hempstead will take on this year’s London Marathon in a bid to raise funds for a cause close to her heart.

Robyn Shuck will take on the gruelling 26.2 mile course on October 3 for the charity Crohn’s and Colitis.

Sadly Crohn’s has effected Robyn’s family with her cousin, Shannon, battling  Crohn’s at a young age having been diagnosed in 2008.

Robyn had hoped to raise £2,500 but she had already smashed that target ahead of the race although she is hoping to raise as much as possible.

She told My Hemel News: “I am beyond happy to have been allocated a place to run the London Marathon 2021 for a charity close to my family’s heart.

“As the marathon is fast approaching it has become and feels very real.

“I am very excited to be taking part in such a big event especially for charity but I am nervous at the same time.

“I have completed fun runs for charity before but nothing this big so to get ready I have been training with Dacorum and Tring running club, with coach Rob Deane. He has given me the most support and so much guidance along with others who run, especially Carol Pitts then helped me meet new runners within the group.

“My target was £2,500 but to reach £5,000 has been amazing. My friends, family, friends of friends have been the reason I have reached this much.”
