A Watford radiographer set off on a long-distance road trip across America last month to support a specialist medical charity.
Chris Shepherd, 40, boarded a flight to the East Coast of the US on September 22 to begin his 15-day trip from Chicago to Los Angeles to support the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre (PSSC), a privately funded medical charity at Mount Vernon Hospital.
The funds raised by Chris will be used to support the PSSC’s positron emission tomography scan service, which is now undergoing a significant upgrade and is crucial to contemporary cancer treatment.
Chris joined the centre from a private hospital in Harley Street in 2015.
He said: “Not only are the team at the top of their game, but they are also completely focused on the needs of patients. The centre provides a service that is superior to that available in many other centres, which is to a significant extent made possible thanks to support from donors and fundraisers.”
