The Watford Green Party (WGP) has launched a campaign calling for the reopening of West Watford railway station, which closed down 22 years ago.
The proposal, supported by a petition and a video released online last month, highlighted concerns over cuts to local public transportation and aims to present a solution using existing infrastructure.
Supporters argue that with the continued development of new housing and schools in the area, reopening the station on Tolpits Lane could ease growing pressure on Watford’s transport system.
The campaign claims the site offers a “ready-made template” for sustainable public travel and could improve access across the town.
According to WGP, several bus routes have been reduced or cancelled, prompting further debate about the need for investment in rail alternatives.
The public response to the petition has been positive so far, with 245 signatures from residents, and they are hoping for more support.
