A team of fundraisers inspired by a woman from Apsley have raised nearly £27,000 for a cancer charity.
The team, known as Rachel’s Warriors, have raised £26,900 by participating in a series of challenging fundraising events, including the Bristol Great Run, the London Marathon, the London Triathlon, and the Three Peaks Challenge.
The team took on the challenges in memory of late Apsley resident Rachel Barnard, who passed away from breast cancer last May aged 33.
In her memory, Rachel’s Warriors have raised vital funds for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre in Northwood.
Rachel’s husband Alaster said: “Taking part in these charity events has given Rachel’s Warriors a meaningful focus after losing someone so special.
“Rachel was an extraordinary social worker, always advocating for the best outcomes for those she cared for. Through our fundraising, we aim to keep her values alive.
“The Lynda Jackson Centre was crucial to Rachel’s care, and I can’t thank them enough for the support they provided in her final days.”
