A new skin cancer centre was launched at Amersham Hospital last month.
The purpose-built state-of-the-art surgical facility was opened by trust chair David Highton on May 14.
The Amersham Skin Cancer Centre has been set up primarily for patients with skin cancer, although patients with a wide variety of skin conditions will also be seen and treated there.
With skin cancer diagnoses increasing year on year, David said: “Having this dedicated Skin Cancer Centre will be fantastic for our patients. By providing them with a one-stop shop to see our dermatology and plastic surgery specialists, we are simplifying, speeding up and ultimately improving how they access the care they need.”
The opening of the centre came at the same time as the announcement that waiting lists for NHS hospitals in Buckinghamshire have improved across seven key areas over the last year.
Commenting on the results, Raghuv Bhasin, the trust’s chief operating officer, said: “Thanks to the dedication of our colleagues, and support from our partners, we have made significant improvements to the waiting times for patients in Buckinghamshire.”
