West Watford will be a place people will be proud to live after the Watford Health Campus regeneration is finished. That’s the view of Dorothy Thornhill, the town’s elected mayor, after the master plan was unveiled at Watford Football Club on Monday night. The scheme will see the construction of around 700 new homes, commercial space and the potential redevelopment of Watford General Hospital. The plans were unveiled to an audience of politicians, community leaders and business people including Richard Harrington, Watford MP, Dorothy Thornhill and Sam Jones, the chief executive of West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust. Mr Harrington said the regeneration would see Watford become a 21st century world class town while Ms Jones said the trust was absolutely committed to regeneration and behind the project 150 per cent. People in Watford are now being invited to comment on the scheme at two public exhibitions which are taking place before the end of January. One is taking place in the Corporate Lounge at Watford Football Club on January 17 from 1pm until 7pm and in Committee Room 2 at Watford Town Hall on January 30 from 10am to 1.30pm. You can also view the plans at The final plan will be submitted for approval to Watford Borough Council at the end of next month. For more, see February’s My Watford News, out February 14.
