A family-run farm in Radlett which has evolved into a “shopping village” is celebrating 65 years in business.
Battlers Green Farm, in Common Lane, has been run by the Haworth family since 1960 and in that time, has grown from having a single farm shop to now boasting 20 independent retailers on site.
It started when Tom Haworth and his wife Joan Eastwood moved their family and dairy herd from Lancashire to Radlett 65 years ago. The family has now led the farm for three generations.
Paul Haworth told Radlett News: “The farm has come a long way from being a purely agricultural operation. We’ve diversified thoughtfully, making sure changes reflect the needs of our customers.
“There have been many milestones, but seeing the farm shop, which started with my mother selling eggs and cream from the back door, grow into one of the best farm shops in the region, and winning the 2025 Muddy Stilettos Award, that’s a real point of pride for all of us.
“Another proud moment was transforming the old buildings into a thriving shopping village without compromising the farm’s character.”
