Police and councillors have been working to reassure the community, in the wake of a recent kidnap incident in Bushey.
On Thursday, January 16, a 17 year old male was reportedly threatened with a knife in Tesco Express on Harcourt Road.
It’s alleged he was then assaulted and bundled into a Range Rover which was driven from the scene.
Three people have now been charged in connection with the incident. There were no serious injuries.
In response, Hertsmere Police and Hertsmere Borough Council organised a reassurance event outside the Harcourt Road shops on Thursday, February 13.
Residents had the opportunity to raise local concerns and access crime prevention information and equipment.
Lib Dem county councillor for Bushey North Laurence Brass said: “Serious crime is rare in Bushey but recent events have understandably caused shock and concern.
“Anti-social behaviour also remains a problem in some neighbourhoods.
“That’s why it’s reassuring to know that police have increased their patrols in the Harcourt Road area. They also monitor CCTV closely.
“We’ll continue to work together to protect the safety of our community.”
