Rickmansworth School’s Year 12 student Kat Bowman describes the Party on the Hill event last month which, alongside celebrating an important anniversary, raised £10,000 for the school.
Saturday, July 6, saw Rickmansworth School’s Party on the Hill, a 70th anniversary celebration to mark the school’s success since opening in 1954.
A variety of musical ensembles performed at the event, including Plested, a Rickmansworth graduate who has gone on to create a career as a singer-songwriter, and the school’s brass band. The charity Electric Umbrella – which runs musical workshops for people with learning disabilities and has been receiving donations from the school as one of its house charities – also took to the stage.
In addition, a dedicated group of previous school production cast members performed a medley of top hits, as well as a number from Sister Act, the upcoming school musical.
A range of stalls were set up in the field, selling crafts, clothes, fudge, tomato plants, and much more. Creative Juices Brewing Company sold drinks with the offer of a reusable Ricky pint glass for just £1, which was an excellent eco initiative.
