A primary school in Rickmansworth is celebrating 50 years this month and the momentous occasion will be enjoyed in many ways.

Arnett Hills JMI primary school, on Berry Lane, is celebrating its 50-year milestone on April 23, and all pupils and staff, present and past, are invited to join for an exhibition in the hall of photographs, memories and anecdotes across the years. This will take place on April 20, from 4pm to 7pm, and April 21 from 10am to 1pm.

There will also be an aerial photograph taken of the pupils in the shape of a ‘50’, bulbs will be planted and yellow balloons will be released (the colour of their uniform). One of the pupil’s talented parents is making a special cake and each child will take a slice home, as well as a commemorative gift. Furthermore, they will hold a special lunch to which families are invited.

Finally, the school is inviting parents and grandparents to share their skill or hobby with groups of the current pupils. To quote an African saying: “It takes a whole community to teach a child.”

A school spokesperson said: “We believe this will be a rewarding experience for all.”
