As Pride Month continues, Watford Borough Council (WBC) has raised a Pride flag at the Town Hall.
On June 6, Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor, WBC chairman councillor Simon Feldman, and Herts Pride and Ask for Clive founders Clive Duffey and Tyson Martin raised the flag in recognition of Pride Month.
Mayor Taylor said: “I am proud to stand alongside the LGBTQ+ community and celebrate the great progress that has been made in recent decades to advance LGBTQ+ rights in the UK. However, I know there is a long way to go. I am committed to ensuring that everyone feels safe, supported, and valued in our town.”
Tyson added: “Pride Month is an opportunity for us to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm the town’s commitment to equality and inclusivity. The town is sending a clear message: Watford is a place where everyone can be proud of who they are. ”
WBC also announced its support for several initiatives to highlight the town’s LGBTQ+ culture. This includes Herts Pride, Hertfordshire’s largest LGBTQ+ festival, which will take place at Cassiobury Park on Saturday, August 19.
