POTHOLE PALAVER: Potholes in Radlett reported more than six months ago still not fixed

Published on: 9th October 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A resident has called attention to two particularly bad potholes on a Radlett road.

Michelle Nathan recently got in touch to highlight the damage on Williams Way.

Speaking to RADLETTnews, Michelle said: “These dreadful potholes have been there for such a long time. They are so big and wide that you have no choice but to drive over them. I have reported them, but it has not been dealt with or fixed.”

On the website FixMyStreet, which allows UK residents to report local issues, these two holes were first pointed out on April 5.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “We’d like to thank residents for reporting these issues with the road surface in Williams Way. One of our inspectors visited the site last week to examine the reported problems, and found that, while there are issues with the road surface, they don’t meet the criteria for an urgent repair.

“We aim to make the most significant potholes safe within 24 hours but the majority of potholes that are big enough to need rapid attention receive a first-time permanent repair either within five days or within 20 days.

“We encourage road users to report potholes to us online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/highwayfaults”
