Police are appealing for help in finding two women who rescued two dogs that were abandoned on the roadside in Bovingdon.
A silver Ford Transit was stolen from a residential address in Chipperfield on the afternoon of Monday, June 3. A French bulldog and a pug crossbreed, which had been inside the vehicle, were dumped on Chipperfield Road.
The theft took place while the driver was talking to a customer at around 1.45pm. The vehicle was then spotted at around 2.30pm pulling over on Chipperfield Road, where the dogs were abandoned before the van sped off.
Fortunately, two kind-hearted blonde women retrieved the pets and took them to a local vet, where shortly afterwards they were happily reunited with their relieved owner.
A spokesperson for Herts Police said: “Officers are keen to trace these women as soon as possible, as they may be able to assist with ongoing enquiries into the incident.
“If this was you, or you think you might know who they are, please get in touch.
“We’d also be keen to hear from anyone else who may have information about the theft, or who captured dashcam footage.”
