Abbots Langley, Bedmond, Hunton Bridge and part of Leavesden will all be represented by a new MP in the next election, following a redrawing of the country’s constituency boundaries.
Currently, all but Bedmond are part of the Watford constituency, represented by Dean Russell MP. Bedmond is part of the St Albans constituency, represented by Daisy Cooper MP.
However, following a redrawing of the boundary map by the Boundary Commission England, all of the settlements will be part of the South West Hertfordshire constituency, represented by Conservative MP Gagan Mohindra.
The changes will not come into effect until the next election, which could happen anytime between now and January 2025 at the latest.
In a statement, Mr Russell MP said: “I was obviously deeply disappointed and saddened to lose parts of my constituency in the recent Boundary Review. I was thankful that the whole of Watford Borough remained intact, and I am delighted to welcome Bushey North into the constituency.
“Of course, the changes do not come into effect until the election so I will continue to support the whole constituency, which to date has included completing well over 20,000 pieces of casework helping thousands of individuals, families and businesses across our town.”
Mr Mohindra MP has also been contacted for comment.
