Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision in Bedmond.

The incident occurred in Bedmond Road, near Church Road, at around 12.35am on Sunday, May 14, and involved a black Vauxhall Astra and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian sadly passed away at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and is in police custody.

Sergeant Nick Kane, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this very difficult time.

“Enquiries are being carried out to establish the circumstances around the collision and, as part of this, we are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“Did you see the collision, or the events leading up to it? Did you see anyone walking in the area or a black Vauxhall Astra travelling nearby? I’d be particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage. If you can help, please get in touch. Thank you.”

Anyone with information is asked to please contact Sgt Kane by email.

Information can also be reported online, by speaking to an operator in the Force Communications Room via the online web chat or by calling the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime ISR 32 of May 14 2023.
