POLICE APPEAL: Officers ask for witnesses following fire at pre-school in Borehamwood

Published on: 2nd April 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses following an arson at a pre-school in Borehamwood.

At around 5.30pm on Sunday (March 27), police received a call from the fire and rescue service alerting them to a fire at a storage shed at Windsor Hall Pre-School in Leeming Road.

Detective Constable Ben Nash, from the Hertsmere Local Crime Unit, said: “Thankfully the pre-school was closed at the time and nobody was injured. However, hundreds of pounds worth of the children’s toys were destroyed.

“The fire was dangerously out of control, spreading to nearby scaffolding.

“We believe that a number of people were in the area at the time and were taking photos on their phones. If you were there and have not yet spoken to police, I urge you to get in touch as soon as possible as you could have important information for us.

“Any witnesses or anyone with information should get in touch by calling the non-emergency number 101 or email me at ben.nash@herts.police.uk quoting crime reference 41/24480/22. Any information, no matter how small it might seem, could be vital for our investigation.”

You can also report information online at herts.police.uk/report or speak to an operator in the Force Communications Room via the online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact.
