POINT SALVAGED: Chalfont St Peter AFC equalise in injury time

Published on: 8th February 2020   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Chalfont St Peter A.F.C

Chalfont St Peter got themselves a well-deserved draw against fourth placed Westfield FC at home today (Saturday, February 8) after Luke Illsley equalised in the 94th minute.

The BetVictor Isthmian South Central Division fixture looked a bit of a mismatch on paper as Westfield are challenging for promotion, while midtable Chalfont haven’t won a game so far in 2020.

And while the Saints still haven’t got that win, today’s result was a significant step forward and Illsley’s late goal should lift the team.

It was a fairly uneventful game right up until the final 20 minutes, but the Saints were giving as good as they got.

They held on until the 82nd minute, when Arsen Ujkaj scored for the away side and looked like stealing all three points.

But Chalfont heads refused to drop and the home side got their reward right at the death; a final corner was played short, before it was whipped in to the back post and nodded in by midfielder Illsley.
