PLEASE SIGN: Petition launched to have speed cameras along Garston stretch of A405

Published on: 25th October 2021   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

A petition has been started by the Watford’s Liberal Democrats to introduce speed cameras along the Garston stretch of the A405.

A previous petition was presented to Watford Borough Council in February 2017, little to nothing occurred since then which prompted the Lib Dems to create a second one.

The petition reads: “Speeding continues along this stretch of the A405, as clearly acknowledged in the Police Commissioner’s Road Safety Study dated July 2018.

“Accidents continue along this stretch, cars veering off the road and a further serious accident occurred this October involving a schoolboy.

“Every single day people are speeding down the stretch of the A405 putting themselves and others in danger.”

Garston councillor Tim Williams previously speaking to GARSTONnews said: “The fact that the police road safety camera van is only able to operate from one location endorses the request for a permanent speed camera or two on this stretch.

“Speeding on the A405 is horrendous especially considering that there are so many schools nearby, and there’s a high record of accidents and cars veering off the road” and added “at times it seems that it’s a racetrack.”
