Published on: 13th August 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Dacorum Borough Council (DBC) has announced an investment of more than £1million to refurbish local playgrounds.

The nine sites being upgraded are Flaunden Play Area in Flaunden, Croft Meadow and Tower Hill in Chipperfield, Apsley Lock and Durrants Hill in Apsley, Woodhall Farm Play Area and Galley Hill in Hemel Hempstead, and Miswell Lane and Tring Skate Park in Tring.

Work at Apsley Lock, Tring Skate Park and Woodhall Farm has already been completed.

The aim is to update the sites to be more interactive for children by installing items such as play castles, toddler ships and sand diggers. The heritage of the local area will be taken into account when it comes to the new designs.

The finances used for this project, totalling £1,110,000, has been sourced from DBC’s own funds and money paid by local developers towards local infrastructure.

Councillor Robin Bromham, DBC’s portfolio holder for neighbourhood operations, said: “It’s fantastic to see much-needed improvements being done to these very popular local parks.

“It’s wonderful that families across Dacorum will have a range of exciting new parks to visit all year round.”

Croft Meadow play area is now an absolutely fantastic place for local children. So much more interactive equipment to stimulate mentally and
physically . Was there Sunday morning and it was absolutely packed. Only suggestion – a couple more benches around the sides of the area for Adults.
