After five years as a Deputy Head at St Clement Danes, Andy Harris is joining its sister school in Croxley as its new Headteacher this September.
Ahead of taking up the role at Croxley Danes, Andy has immersed himself in school life by visiting the school every week of the last summer term.
“It’s been a privilege to see the school in action already and I can’t wait to join Croxley Danes in September,” said the new Head, who lives nearby in Buckinghamshire.
Andy went into teaching 14 years ago after a previous career in the Ministry of Defence and the Northern Ireland office. However, motivated by his “strong public service ethic”, Andy left the security and defence field to retrain as a teacher of humanities and social sciences.
“I’m a keen believer in equality of access for all, and education is absolutely keen,” he said. “I’m particularly passionate about helping people from disadvantaged backgrounds.”
Although most of his Headship will centre around leadership, Andy is keen to make time for teaching amidst a busy timetable.
“I’ve made a conscious choice to keep my hand in teaching itself, as it’s important to be in the classroom even as a Headteacher. Plus, it’s something I really enjoy!”
“I’m genuinely really excited to be at Croxley Danes,” he added.
