PLANNING CONCERNS: Residents oppose plans for Shisha Lounge on Pinner High Street

Residents of Marsh Road next to the High Street in Pinner are opposing a planning application to turn the former site of The Victory Pub and Zizzi’s into a shisha bar and lounge.

A number of residents of the Knightsbridge House flats have put together a petition to present to the council, objecting to the plans.

One of the residents told PINNERnews: “We need 2,000 or more signatures for the council to take this seriously. Our flat block backs directly onto the proposed shisha garden and we are concerned about the harmful smoke permeating our block as well as other local businesses and any passers-by.

“Most people we speak to say they are against a seven day a week Shisha Bar, but not many residents are aware of what’s happening.”

On March 23, the decision was referred to a planning committee after the application received more than 100 objections.

A majority of four out of seven on the committee must approve or reject the plans in a meeting set to take place in May or June.

The resident added: “We appreciate that lots of shops have closed due to COVID and we aren’t against new shops, but we do not think a Shisha bar is the right choice.

“We are very concerned about this change in the High Street which is a conservation area and not in keeping with the family-centric culture Pinner has worked hard to maintain. Other concerns include anti-social behaviour, late-night noise and security issues.”
