A Chalfont St Peter based group has launched a proposal to try and get funding for a skatepark built in the village.
Chalfont Activity Park, committee chaired by resident Kenny Ross, is looking to improve the free-to-use outdoor sports facilities in the village.
The group has proposed Cheena Meadow park ground on Denham Lane as the most suitable site to have a skatepark built.
They are now waiting for the parish council’s approval.
On Wednesday, April 7, residents can join an online meeting to discuss the project as part of the ongoing consultation.
Speaking to ChalfontsNews, Kenny said: “So far people have been overwhelmingly in favour and we have received many donations.
“Some residents are concerned about our choice of location but the site has still to be confirmed. The important thing is that people acknowledge there needs to be an investment in sports facilities here in CSP.
“I have been researching the history of wheeled sports in CSP and apparently there used to be a thriving skateboard and BMX scene here in the 80’s and early 90s. This was killed off when the council installed the current ramps which are dangerous and not fit for their intended use.”
Another potential site for the skatepark could be the Mill Meadow park.
