A Pinner resident has had one of her dream’s come true after her work was selected to feature in one of London’s most prestigious galleries.

Aleesha Nandhra, a freelance illustrator, had her ‘Leopard’ print selected to feature in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition which is running until August 21.

After her work was selected, Aleesha was also invited to feature in the BBC Two programme Joe Lycett: Summer Exhibitionist, in which Joe followed the journey of those featured.

Aleesha said she was blown away to be selected to be featured when applying for the first time.

She said: “I always enjoyed art at school and went straight from Nower Hill to study illustration at university. Everyone has something they are interested in and for me it was art.

“I used to go to the Royal Academy and visit when I was a student, so now it’s really strange to have my work in there.

“I found out in June and I was really thrilled because it was the first time I had submitted and I wasn’t expecting anything.”

Speaking about the exhibition Aleesha said: “It’s the biggest thing of its kind. The general public can submit their work alongside well-known artists.

“Regardless of your taste there’s always something you would like.

“To have the BBC film my journey was really exciting. It’s amazing to have had that experience catalogued forever.”
