The Great Barn in Ruislip was filled with fantastic produce and florals for a special day last month, as the summer-long Hillingdon in Bloom competition came to a close.
After kicking off in April, the judging of the hundreds of entries from across Northwood, Ruislip and the wider area took place on Saturday, September 14, with the committee headed by Mayor of Hillingdon councillor Colleen Sullivan.
Fruit, veg, flowers and other home produce were all onsite for guests and officials to view, with many guests coming along to see the various items cultivated since April.
The top winner was dahlia displayer Terry Clements, whose fantastic flowers and arrangements helped him win an incredible five first-place ribbons, one second-place ribbon, and a further two third-place ribbons.
Another highlight of the day was prize winner Peter Wilson, who won awards for his giant exhibition onions which were bigger than a person’s fist!
Posting on social media afterwards, Hillingdon Council said: “Many congratulations to all the winners and entrants in this year’s Autumn Show.
“Our judges had a wonderful time deliberating over their decisions, with some truly incredible entries on offer in what was quite a challenging year for gardeners and growers, so well done!”
