An original period drama will be making its debut performance at Watford Fringe Festival at the end of the month.
‘The Duchess of Buckingham Regrets to Inform you that Her Husband is Dead’ is the theatrical debut for award-winning screenwriter Niamh Dunne, and follows the misfortunes of Selina, The Duchess of Buckingham, when she discovers that her late husband has left her some rather difficult stipulations in his will.
There is a matinee and evening performance of the show on September 30 at the Pump House Theatre, as part of the Watford Fringe Festival.
Niamh Dunne said: “I hope that ‘The Duchess of Buckingham’ will prove there’s a real place for original period dramas in the creative world that break through the standard tropes of the genre and present exciting new stories about a larger, more diverse range of characters. My greatest thanks have to go to Ruckus Theatre, without whom this play likely wouldn’t exist. “
