A young footballing sensation, who recently joined Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerging Talent Centre, met the Mayor of Harrow as part of an action-packed few months.
In STANMORE&EDGWAREnews October edition, we spoke to Sabina Sufraz’s father Reshad about the talented young footballer, who also plays for Watford FC’s Player Development Centre.
Coincidentally, when Sabina and Mayor of Harrow councillor Salim Chowdhury crossed paths at his café in Stanmore, there happened to be a copy of October’s STANMORE&EDGWAREnews on the table. This led the pair to take a photo while holding the edition with Sabina on the cover.
Reshad told STANMORE&EDGWAREnews: “We had a really good chat; it was really nice.”
Sabina and Mayor Chowdhury first met at the Barnet FC Family Fun Day, as Sabina was training at Barnet FC and Reshad plays for the walking football team. Reshad said Mayor Chowdhury also kindly offered to carry out ceremonial roles such as handing out medals in the future.
Since then, Sabina has gone on to have trials with Chelsea’s Player Performance Centre after impressing at a soccer school with the team over Christmas.
When Sabina went to the trials, she was thrown straight into a game, which her U9 side won 8-2. Sabina got an impressive three assists in the match.
Reshad said: “It was absolutely amazing; she was put into this match with teammates she’s never met before. She did really well.”
