West Herts Crematorium in Garston is set to host an open air service of thanksgiving and remembrance on Sunday, July 9.
The annual event starts at the crematorium on High Elms Lane at 3pm and the service will be led by ministers and a humanist celebrant.
Manager Jane Thomas said: “It has been taking place for the last 28 years. It is a service that is provided for everyone who has had a loved one cremated here at West Herts.
“It is a service that is led by religious and non-religious ministers and celebrants, together with members of the crematorium staff. We sing hymns accompanied by one of the crematorium organists and we play contemporary music during the service.
“The service is often attended by several hundred people and is a very important day to a lot of our community.
“It is a lovely day and sadly tears are usually shed, but the congregation take comfort in being together with others who know how they are feeling.”
The service is free and open to all, and there will be a sign language interpreter on the day.
