With Guy Fawkes Night fast approaching and households across the country getting excited, some pet owners dread the annual celebrations.
As many pet owners know, some animals hate Fireworks Night and get spooked out by the continuous bangs throughout the evening.
In a bid to help our furry friends, Sainsbury’s have announced it will no longer be selling fireworks at any of its branches which was applauded by a Stanmore resident.
Sally Woolf tweeted the supermarket giant saying: “@sainsburys Have to say well done & thank you. Been informed local branch #Stanmore won’t b selling fireworks this year due 2 the distress it causes our pets & wildlife. Any other stores doing this? Can’t thank you enough as my dog is beside herself with fear at these times.”

Sainsbury’s then responded saying no fireworks will be sold in any of the stores across the UK.
A spokesperson for animal charity, RSPCA has said: “The RSPCA is campaigning for a restriction in the sale and use of fireworks to specific dates, so we welcome this move by Sainsbury’s. Each year we receive hundreds of calls from worried owners about their petrified animals, to find out more about what you can do to help please visit our website.”
RSPCA has released a new report highlighting the stress fireworks cause to animals which shows that 62 per cent of dog owners said their animals showed signs of distress and similar findings were gathered in relation to other animals.
