Cadets from Three Rivers Police recently took to the streets of Chorleywood as part of an operation helping to reduce and prevent opportunistic vehicle crime.
Together with Cadet Leaders, Police Constables and Police Community Support Officers, the Cadets went out on foot patrol in the village. The group split into two and began the operation, known as Operation Handle, on various roads in the area.
They checked more than 200 vehicle door handles, of which 16 were found to be insecure. The owners were made aware and given crime prevention advice.
Posting on Facebook, Three Rivers Police said: “The Cadets were professional at all times and a credit to their leaders. We had some great positive engagements with the public during a very high-visibility operation.
“We are planning more events to deter and prevent acquisitive vehicle crime in Three Rivers, especially as the nights are starting to draw in.”
