Watford Borough Council is delighted to announce a series of plans to improve Leavesden Green Recreation Ground in Garston.
Supported by Leavesden Green Residents’ Association, these enhancements are aiming to provide a better recreational experience for locals and reflect the council’s commitment to creating inclusive and accessible green spaces.
These plans include the installation of a wider central path and brand-new gravel paths, as well as updating signage to make the play areas and community hub more accessible for everyone. Seventeen of Watford’s parks and green spaces have been awarded Green Flag status, an award given to the best parks in the country.
Councillor Tim Williams, portfolio holder for parks, said: “The council is committed to making ecological improvements across the town. With a designated biodiversity area and strategically planted trees, we are fostering a thriving ecosystem within the park, while improving air quality and providing habitats for various species.”
Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “We are thrilled to unveil the completion of these enhancements at Leavesden Green Recreation Ground, demonstrating our dedication to creating inclusive and accessible green spaces for the community. I would also like to thank the Residents’ Association, who supported us on these improvements to ensure that individuals of all abilities can enjoy the open space.”
