Parish says farewell to long-serving community figures

Published on: 1st May 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Two members of the parish council said their farewells at the annual meeting last month to retire.

Councillor and chairman Mark Saxon, and parish clerk David Allison gave speeches to members of the public and fellow councillors on their time at Croxley Green Parish Council.

David and Mark have spent over 35 years between them working to put the residents first with the aim of “keeping Croxley Green special”.

Mark said: “After over 20 years of being involved with this council I decided that it is now time to pursue other interests, leaving it to a younger generation to come in and work for this organisation. I must first thank my fellow councillors who as volunteers bring forward ideas and events that benefit the community we all live in.

“Second I would like to thank our current clerk David Allison who for many years has provided the council with advice and guidance and the pleather of duties that is the role of the clerk to the council. I have to commend David in his task who has consistently received glowing reviews from both our internal and external auditors.

“Like myself, David has decided it is the right time for him to retire from the council and I should like to place on record our heartfelt thanks for all the hard work you’ve done over the years and to wish you a healthy and enjoyable retirement.”

David Allison said: “In November last year I gave notice to the council of my intension to retire as the executive officer, the clerk to the parish council. I took up this job some 15 years ago having been a resident of Croxley Green for over 35 years I feel privileged to have developed a stable administrative platform for this council for what was, to today, and the future.

“Under my watch the council has always been open and transparent, and I would like to thank you, the residents, for your support, to those that contact into the office to discuss matters that are of concern to you.

“Of late I have had a great team to support me and I would like to thank Ryan, the new clerk and James Townley, senior ranger. Thank you so much for your loyalty, dedication and commitment. You guys have just been so great, and I will miss you. It’s the team spirit, which is one of the reasons why Croxley Green is special.”
